Communication Screening Tool
Created by Nicky West in 2014, the CST supports the rapid and easy identification of children who may present with speech, receptive language, or expressive language needs. It provides; consistency between referrers; rapid screening of children’s receptive language, expressive language, and speech skills; appropriate identification of children to refer to New Options – (in turn reducing inappropriate referrals resulting in improving financial budgets and reducing treatment times). It has also been used in some settings to evidence improvement in Speech, Language, and Communication skills made by children from their initial base-line assessment result on entry to a nursery, compared to a further assessment at the end of a term after accessing universal educational input at their setting. The CST is also branded with your school/nursery logo for no extra charge. This screening tool includes a 10-year site licence and is provided in a digital and hard copy. Forms are photocopiable so no additional costs. P.O.A. (Training is required at an additional charge – please see the ‘Training and Courses’ section.)
